MAYhem 14C — The Mother of All Arts Weekends, May 8–10 2026

Spring is usually imagined as gentle — quiet buds, soft blossom, gradual renewal. But growth is rarely polite. It pushes. It splits. It overtakes. It arrives all at once.

When beauty and chaos
decide they're on
the same side.

MAYhem 14C is a three-day festival of art and spring: performances, open studios, immersive installations, and a group exhibition that asks what happens when emergence becomes feral. Come for one night or the whole weekend.

Performing Arts
Opera

The Magic Flute

Mozart reimagined — a full performance from the Special Projects cohort.

Musical Theatre

Monsters Inc. the Musical

Live, original, and entirely unexpected. Yes, really.

Dance

Flamenco & Leonard Cohen

Choreography that holds two seemingly impossible things together — and makes it feel inevitable.

Immersive Performance

Immersive installations

Spaces that ask you to feel before you understand.

Visual Arts
Mural

Large-scale murals

Expansive work that transforms the walls of the 4th floor into something you walk through, not past.

Photography

Surreal photography

Images that sit at the edge of what's real — and stay there.

Mixed Media

Dioramas & sculpture

Intricate worlds built at unusual scales — including soccer ball sculptures.

Portraiture & Illustration

Portraiture & a graphic novel

Character studies and a sequential narrative work in progress.

Group Exhibition

A Riot of Spring

Work that embraces the unruly — emotional overflow, material excess, transformation, contradiction. From subtle shifts to explosive gestures. Opening Friday night, open all weekend.

Literary Arts
Installation

A graphic novel, page by page

The pages of a graphic novel cover the studio walls — an entire narrative world made physical, readable, and room-sized.

Collaborative portraiture

Two artists, one subject

A painter and a writer examine the same person from wildly different perspectives — in concert, and in contrast. What does portraiture look like when the tools are completely different?

Open mic

Poets, writers & observers of life

An open mic for poets, writers, and anyone who notices things. Come to read, come to listen, come to be surprised by what people carry around in their heads.

Friday night only — 5th & 6th Floors

The whole building
opens its doors

On Friday night — and only Friday night — ARTS 14C's long-term resident artists open their studios to the public.

Work from all disciplines: visual arts, literary arts, performing arts. Working artists in working studios. Come ready to be surprised by what people are actually making.

The 5th and 6th floors will not be open Saturday or Sunday. Friday is the only chance to see this work.

5th & 6th Floor Studios · Friday May 8 · 6:30 – 9 pm · Free admission

Invoking Medusa

Fabricio Suarez

Invoking Medusa is the muse for MAYhem — and its logo. The lush, unsettling beauty of this painting — growth erupting from dark earth, flowers that feel carnivorous, a world teeming beyond its own edges — is the visual spirit of MAYhem 14C.

Spring as force. Beauty as something with teeth.
