Project 14C

Residencies that support artists across disciplines

Project 14C is the artist residency program of ARTS 14C – an incubator-style creative community for artists of every discipline, created in partnership with GFP Real Estate.

Located in 125,000 sq ft in Jersey City’s Powerhouse Arts District, Project 14C offers subsidized live/work lofts, professional facilities, and career-building support – an urban residency designed for artists to create, connect, and thrive.

Applications are open now for 12-month and 3-month live/work residencies starting June 1, 2026, as well and three Special Project residencies.

Overview

Project 14C is an innovative urban residency designed for fine artists, filmmakers, writers, designers, performers, and creators working across the full spectrum of contemporary art.

We believe creativity thrives when artists are supported -not only with space, but with community.

Our mission is to establish a vibrant, affordable, and nurturing environment where diverse talents come together to live and work, inspire one another, and build the foundation for a lasting career in the arts through mentorship, professional development, and meaningful opportunity.

Project 14C offers modern, subsidized live/work studios and shared facilities—designed to make sustained creative work possible within a vibrant community of peers.

Location

Across the Hudson River from Lower Manhattan, Jersey City is one of America’s most culturally dynamic and diverse cities, with more than 40 languages spoken.

Project 14C is located in Jersey City’s Powerhouse Arts District, just ten minutes from Manhattan by PATH train – placing residents at the crossroads of two thriving creative ecosystems. Here, the energy of an urban center meets the intimacy of a close-knit neighborhood: galleries, studios, performance spaces, and cultural institutions within reach.

Project 14C occupies the entire 4th, 5th, and 6th floors of the landmark 150 Bay Street building. With its own secure, private entrance, the residency is both an enclave and a launchpad: a dedicated world for artists, built inside one of Jersey City’s most iconic historic structures.

The Project 14C difference

Most artist residencies are rural – quiet refuges where artists step away from the world.

Project 14C offers something different: an inescapably urban residency rooted in collaboration, conversation, and shared life. This is not a retreat from community – it is a commitment to it.

We encourage residents to meet one another’s work with openness and generosity, to collaborate across disciplines, and to explore the immense creative opportunities of Jersey City and the greater New York City area.

Community involvement is central to Project 14C. Residents are not simply housed in the same building—they are part of an active, collaborative ecosystem shaped by mutual support and shared responsibility.

Volunteerism is at the heart of that culture. We ask each resident to contribute 36 hours of volunteer service over the course of the year, as a meaningful way to give back to the community that makes this residency possible.
